Privacy policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Tertulia collects, why, and what you can do about it. Tertulia is run by Paulo Guerra in Quito, Ecuador, who is responsible for your data. Questions: hola@tertulia.lat.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your Google profile name and photo.
- Profile: what you add yourself, such as a photo, bio, interests and your city.
- Activity: the groups you join or run, the events you create, and your RSVPs.
- Location: the city you save, used to show events near you. If you haven’t saved one, we use an approximate location based on your IP address for that page view; we don’t store it.
- Payments: if you buy the Organizer plan, Lemon Squeezy handles the payment. We receive your subscription status and dates, never your card details.
- Usage and technical data: anonymous page-view statistics (pages visited, referrer, country, device type) through Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser) kept for a short time for security and debugging.
How we use it
- to run Tertulia: your account, groups, events, RSVPs and waitlists;
- to send you emails about things you’re part of, such as RSVP confirmations, new events in your groups, a spot opening up on a waitlist, or a group being deleted;
- to handle your plan and billing;
- to understand which pages are used, keep the service secure and fix problems.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
What other people can see
Your name, photo and profile, and the groups and events you take part in, can be seen by other people on Tertulia. Organizers see who has RSVPed to their events and who is in their groups. Your email address isn’t shown to other users.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run Tertulia. They only process your data on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage;
- Vercel: website hosting and anonymous analytics;
- Resend: sending email;
- Mapbox: maps and place search;
- Google: sign-in, if you choose it;
- Lemon Squeezy: payments, as merchant of record (under its own privacy policy).
Some of these providers are outside Ecuador, mainly in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
Cookies
We only use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember the language you chose. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account from Settings, we delete your profile and RSVPs and remove you from your groups. (If you organize a group or pay for the Organizer plan, you’ll need to hand over or delete the group, and cancel the plan, first.) Copies in backups are deleted as the backups expire. Lemon Squeezy keeps its own payment records for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can see and edit most of your data in Settings, and delete your account there at any time. You can also ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing hola@tertulia.lat. These rights come from Ecuador’s Personal Data Protection Law (LOPDP) and, where they apply to you, laws such as the GDPR or Brazil’s LGPD. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Age
Tertulia is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
