Terms of service
Last updated October 27, 2026
These terms apply when you use Tertulia, a service for finding and organizing groups and events. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Tertulia.
Who we are
Tertulia is run by Paulo Guerra, a sole proprietor based in Quito, Ecuador (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hola@tertulia.lat.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Tertulia.
- Give accurate details and keep access to your email and sign-in method secure.
- You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Groups and events
Organizers create and run groups and events; Tertulia only provides the tools. We don’t organize, host, check or supervise events, and we aren’t responsible for what happens at them. Organizers are responsible for their events being accurate, legal and safe, and for any fees, permits or venue rules. If you go to an event, you do so at your own risk. Use your judgement, especially when meeting people for the first time.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (profile details, photos, group and event descriptions). You give us permission to store, show and share it within Tertulia as needed to run the service, for example showing your event to people searching nearby. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Tertulia to:
- break the law, or promote events or activities that are illegal or dangerous;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or impersonate anyone;
- post spam, scams, sexual content involving minors, or content you don’t have the right to share;
- collect other people’s data, scrape the site, or interfere with how it works.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you why.
Paid plans
Organizers can buy the Organizer plan (see pricing). Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and reseller: your order is with Lemon Squeezy, which handles payment, invoices and sales tax, under its own terms. Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. If we change prices, we’ll tell you before your next renewal, and the new price applies only from then. Cancellations and refunds follow our refund policy.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Tertulia running and your data safe, but we can’t promise the service will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. If we stop offering a paid feature you’ve paid for, we’ll refund the unused part.
Disclaimers and liability
Tertulia is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything arising from events or from other users’ conduct, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Tertulia afterwards means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ecuador, and disputes go to the courts of Quito, unless the consumer laws where you live give you the right to bring a claim locally.
